Karate Camp provides an opportunity to escape from daily routines, unwind, connect with nature,
and experience the spirituality of the Martial Arts.


WHAT KARATE CAMP OFFERS

Karate Instruction: Camp is equivalent to one month of lessons at the dojo! This type of intensive training motivates and conditions the student towards consistent practice, improved technique, and better retention of their lessons. Classes are geared towards building confidence, discipline, posture, balance, coordination and a "YES I CAN!" Attitude. Beginners through advanced students will benefit.

Recreation: Students experience a sense of camaraderie and community as they enjoy many exciting activities. The bonds between karate students naturally grow at camp and new friendships begin.

Meals  & Canteen: No need to bring extra cash for the canteen. Snacks are included this year!

Shiai (competition): will be held for kumite, kata and team kata. 

Enbukai & Kanpai is the highlight of the weekend. Students will perform demonstrations and rank promotions will take place. Family members are invited to attend the Enbukai and Kanpai.

Cabins: Newly renovated cabins combine a unique blend of rustic flavor and modern comfort. Each cabin is equipped with full bathrooms (including private showers), ceiling fans and clothing cubbies.

ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE

CHECK IN:                 July 2, 2015 (Thursday)          8:00 - 9:00 am
CHECK OUT:            July 5, 2105 (Sunday)                        5pm - after Enbukai & Kanpai

 

 

CAMP REGISTRATION & FEES


Paid in full no later than April 30, 2015: $385 /student
If paid after April 30th please include $25 late fee and a camp t-shirt cannot be guaranteed



WHAT TO BRING



q  Karate Gi & Obi:  We recommend campers bring at least 2-3 uniforms.
q  Sparring Gear:  Be sure your name is written on each piece of equipment.
q  Kobudo Weapons
q  Karate Notebook and Pens
q  Bedding:  Sleeping bag and pillow, or sheet, blanket and pillow.
q  Toiletries:  Towel, washcloth, soap, shampoo, comb/ brush, hair dryer, deodorant, toothbrush/ toothpaste, etc.
q  Clothing: Jeans, shorts, sweatpants, sweatshirt or jacket, raincoat/ poncho, T-shirts, bathing suit, sleepwear, sneakers and socks (for the bushido experience) & flip flops for the showers.
q  Insect Repellent
q  Sun Screen
q  Flashlight
q  Sunglasses
q  Bottled Water or Gatorade



WHAT NOT TO BRING
Camp is a time to get away from our hectic daily routines and is a chance to relax and study martial arts in a rural setting. Therefore, Cell Phones & Electronic Devices of any type (i.e. iPod, iPad, etc) should be left at home.  

Do not bring any valuables such as money, jewelry, expensive cameras, etc. Tenchi Dojo and Camp Louemma are not responsible for lost or stolen items. In addition Smoking, Alcohol, Illegal Drugs, Pets, Hot Pots, Curling Irons and Hair Straighteners are strictly prohibited.  


MEALS / SPECIAL DIET / MEDICATIONS
All students must report for every meal. No exceptions. Please indicate any special diets, food allergies or medications on the registration form. Any camper taking any kind of medication should also notify their cabin counselor. Upon arrival, please give medication and written instructions including the camper’s name, type of medication, dosage, etc. to your cabin counselor.


KARATE CLASSES
Each student must report to every class. Even if you don’t feel well, you must report and be accounted for. Meet at the designated workout area 15 minutes early and wait for permission to bow on.


BEHAVIOR
Karate Camp has been designed to provide concentrated, energetic instruction combined with planned recreation time. Each student is expected to work hard during the regularly scheduled classes, obey all camp rules and be respectful of other people and their possessions. Students are required to stay with their groups at all times. It is the student's responsibility to immediately report any incident to Mr. Fawcett, Mrs. Fawcett or your cabin counselor. Think karate in all that you do this weekend. Strive to do your best. We know you will have a great time!
