Scott K. Fawcett (Yon-Dan) - Instructor

Scott studies Isshinryu Karate and Kobudo under Sensei A.J. Advincula and a member of Sensei Advincula's Isshinkai. Scott attended Sensei Advincula's annual Enbukai in Oceanside, California in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Scott and his wife Kathy also had the privilege of traveling to Okinawa with Advincula Sensei, his wife Michie and a small group of students in August 2008 for a 10-day cultural martial arts tour.

2001-2004: Jeet Kune Do, Sambo and Escrima under Frank Viggiano at Martial Arts Concepts
 

Babak Tamjidi (Yon-Dan) - Instructor

Babak began his study of Isshinryu karate in 1991 at American Budo Kai under the instruction of Ms. Joan Felenczak.  It was there that Babak achieved the rank of San Dan (3rd degree black belt) in Isshinryu karate.  He instructed classes for seven years. Babak now studies under Sensei Arsenio J. Advincula and is a member of his Isshin-Kai organization. Babak attended Sensei Advincula's annual Enbukai in 2006 and 2007.  Babak became a citizen of the United States in 2008.

George Kistner (Yon-Dan) - relocated to North Carolina

Mr. George Kistner holds a fourth-degree black belt in Isshin-Ryu karate. Mr. Kistner began his formal training of Isshin-Ryu Karate in 1980 at the Jersey Judo Karate Academy in Kenvil, NJ under the late Sensei Dale Jenkins. He also studied under other Masters such as Nick Adler, Marvin Carmona, and Brian Fitzgerald. Mr. Kistner has taught the martial arts in Netcong and Landing, NJ before moving to Readington in 1994. He initiated the Readington Recreation karate program at the Holland Brook School, under Sensei Brian Fitzgerald.

Vince Toscano (Ni-Dan) - Assistant Instructor

Vince Toscano began his study of the martial arts at American Budo Kai in October 1991, following his wife Terri and son Phillip into the art.  He also trained under Mr. Rick Norris at the Jersey Judo Karate Academy in the mid 1990's. He later studied Jeet Kune Do (Bruce Lee's method), Escrima (Filippino stick fighting) and Sambo (submission grappling) under Frank Viggiano at Martial Arts Concepts.  Vince has been an Assistant Instructor at the NJ Academy of Martial Arts since our inception in September 2004.

 

Kathy Fawcett (Sho-Dan) - Assistant Instructor

Mrs. Kathy Fawcett was promoted to Sho Dan at our 2008 karate camp. She was a member of our KI TEAM Program for a number of years and is now an Assistant Instructor in the dojo.  Mrs. Fawcett and her husband Scott accompanied Sensei Advincula and his wife Michie to Okinawa for a 10-day cultural martial arts tour in 2008. Kathy attended Sensei Advincula's annual Enbukai in 2006 and 2007. 

 

Erik Heller (Sho-Dan) - Instructor

Erik was promoted to Shodan in December 2008. Erik was a member of our KI TEAM Program for a number of years and is now an Instructor in the dojo.  Erik attended Sensei Advincula's annual Enbukai in 2007 and 2008.

 

Rachael Kistner (Sho-Dan) - relocated to North Carolina

Rachael was promoted to Shodan in December 2008. Although Rachael is now living in North Carolina she will always be with us in spirit.
